Puppy-Proofing The House And Setting Up Prada's Den

I am flying away on a holiday tomorrow and I wanted to start sorting out Prada's room before I left.
I have tried my best to puppy proof the living room where she will mostly be, but I must say it isn't going too well!
We have so many wires around the house and despite me trying my best to stack them in a corner, I still think she can get to them. Lets hope she doesn't like wires! I will spray them with bitter anti-chew spray nearer the time she is coming home.
I have also set up her pink Petitude playpen but it is HUGE! It wouldn't fit in  the room if I completely unfold it, but I somehow managed to set it up without having to unfold the whole thing. I have put in her Furrari bed from Haute Diggity and some baby chew toys for her in the playpen.
I will also put in her Pettapotty as soon as it arrives.
Hopefully she will like her new den :)
I love her Crown food bowl! Unfortunately the manufacturer doesn't make them anymore.

I am also TRYING to organize her wardrobes, but the HUGE problem with that is that she has too many things and hey won't all fit. I don't have the space for another wardrobe neither :(
So what I have done is I have separated her clothes, collars, booties and accessories into 2 groups:
Puppy size and Adult size.
Her adult clothes are in her 2 wardrobes upstairs and in her pink suitcase.
I put the other 2 puppy wardrobes downstairs next to her playpen.
As you can see they are absolutely stuffed! I wish I could get the Bon Pet Armorie because it would solve all my problems! They do not ship it to England though because of the weight :(

I am very excited that the countdown is almost over! Just 3 weeks and 2 days left to go till my little baby comes home!
I will keep you posted.

It's A Small World!

Three days ago I was browsing through some of my friends on Facebook who own chihuahuas, just keeping myself up to date with what has been going on with everyone. I saw a comment on one of the pages and there it was! Prada's little eyes were staring back at me from another user's profile picture!
At first I was confused, then I compared the picture with the one Jane had sent me and noticed some differences in the puppy.
After some detective work (LOL) I was 99% sure the two photos had 3 things in common:
1. Both had the same couch in the background
2.Both had the same blue carpet
3.Both had cute fluffy little white/cream chihuahuas on them

I emailed the user asking her if she had got her puppy from Jane, and to be honest I think  I freaked her out a tad !
I think she thought we were scammed or something, but then after chatting for a bit we came to the conclusion that she is the new mum of Prada's little fluffy brother, Neo.
I think it is great because now we can stay in touch and watch our puppies grow together.
Who knows, perhaps some day they can be reunited! (admittedly we live about 6 hrs away but I am sure if it comes to it we can manage).
Danielle absolutely adores Neo (her little 'sna bah') and she is as excited as I am to bring Neo home.

These are some of Prada, Neo and Crystal's recent photos. Enjoy :)

This is Prada's latest photo. I think I can almost tell that she is cream with a white marking on her forehead!

This is a another photo of Prada when she was 5 days younger. Can you tell the resemblance to Neo's photo?

This is Crystal's photo

And this is wee Neo. He is the whitest of the pups

A photo of Neo when he was much younger

Love Neo's short little feet!

In this photo from left to right: Crystal, Neo, and a cute grumpy looking sable chihuahua destined to go to Ireland (I will find out her name and post it later)

The Count Down Begins!

A wise man once said "The trick is to make sure you don't die waiting for your pooch to come home "

If all goes well, we just have to wait a few days until Prada comes home with us. The trouble that I am having now is that I don't want to take the little one on a 5-6 hour long train journey on the way back. I am trying to find a friend to drive me there and back and perhaps we can spend a day or two in a dog friendly hotel to make the journey easier, we'll see how that goes!
Meanwhile my little Prada is growing fast.
The puppies are so happy and bouncy these days.
Prada does seem to be the sweetest and calmest one of the bunch.
And yes Crystal is still the chubbiest LOL
Jane has officially confirmed that Crystal loves food now more than ever!
This is their latest video, hope you enjoy!
Prada is the little white/cream pup lying on the blankie for a while at the start of the video.

First Encounter

So today I finally managed to go see little Prada after a VERY long journey!
She is so tiny at the moment and it was honestly love at first sight :)
I think she quite liked me too because out of all her siblings, she loved cuddling and stretching on me the most.
She has no teeth at the moment and it was so cute when she was playing and nibbling on my fingers.
The puppies have just started to learn how to walk and they are taking a puppy mousse formula as well so they can gradually wean off their mummy's milk.
Their mum Blushes is so protective and she is a fantastic mum. Jane's other chihuahua also had a baby but she decided not to care for her pups, but Blushes has taken on the abandoned pup and takes care of her like one of her own.
Prada is the smallest of the bunch, but she is the darkest cream colored puppy with a white line on her forehead. I wonder how she would look like when she has grown up?!
Her sister Crystal Nola is the chubbiest. She absolutely loves food and never stops eating!
Even after she feeds from Blushes and eats her mousse, she tries nibbling on the big chihuahua's food and biscuits!
I got too see Prada's Kennel Club registration too along with her puppy pack which includes free food vouchers and a month free insurance with the KC.
Jane also gave me loads of advice on how to take care of Prada and what to feed her.
I took a little Zanies Sunggle Bear blanket and a Snuggle Puppy with me to leave in the puppy crate so that it can have Blushes' scent on it. Hopefully it will help making Prada more comfortable when she comes home.
I have got the black Labrador Snuggle Puppy. It comes with heat packs to keep the puppy warm just like when it cuddles with its mum and has a heart which has a sort of vibration and sound to represent the mum's heartbeat. I will let you know about my experience with it later.

This is the Zanies puppy blanket. It has a cute squeaky teddy bear on it which should hopefully entertain Prada and keep her warm and cozy. It also comes in pink and blue or with a squeaky lamb. When I bought mine I didn't know if I was going to have a little girl or boy puppy so I went with the yellow.

Prada will finally be ready to join us in her new home after her second set of vaccinations and vet checks at 12 weeks.
These are some photos and videos of little Prada and her siblings.
Aren't they just the cutest?
The dark cream pup on the back is Prada and the one who doesn't stop eating is Crystal.

They love cuddling next to each other to stay warm in this cold winter

It is Prada's turn to eat now while Crystal is climbing over her brother's back to go play with her sister (the sable chihuahua who will be going to Ireland to her forever home!)

This is another video of them eating their yummy Royal Canin mousse

It is going to take some time for them to get sturdy on their little paws!

This is a video that Jane had taken when the puppies were 2 weeks younger with their mum Blushes

A Little Princess Is Born

After years of thinking about having a chihuahua, I finally made the decision that now is the time.
I searched for several hours trying to find a reputable and ethical breeder and I cam across Jane from Happyhouse Chihuahua's.
She had 4 little newborn chihuahuas, 2 white/cream girls, 1 sable girl and 1 white boy.
I fell in love with one of the cream little girls and decided she was the one.
Then came the decision time to pick a name for her. My hubby Paddy thought it would be quirky and funny to call her lunch because she is so cute and tiny. I wanted her to have a name that has the same initial letter as ours so she can fit right in the family. So in the end we decided Princess Prada was ideal (after all, she will be a pampered princess!).
Jane has been regularly keeping me up to date with her progress and she will join us in her new home in January when she is old enough.
These are some of the first photos I have received from Jane.
Hope you enjoy them.

This is her first photo

In this photo Prada has opened her eyes for the first time!
I love this photo! it is like the Yin - Yang symbol
Prada was born all white, but now she has some gorgeous cream markings
She is 2 weeks old in this photo

I guess my the dirty look she is giving she doesn't like tickles!
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Her pretty markings are becoming more distinct
